Why might I need to see an emergency dentist?

Individuals who may require an emergency dentist in Barrow-in-Furness may be experiencing a mild to severe level of dental, jaw or mouth pain. Despite common misconception however, emergency dentists may also be required for aesthetic reasons, for example, a chipped tooth which may need to be fixed for aesthetic purposes. Many patients may not be aware of when a dental mishap is considered a ‘dental emergency’, which is why we try to educate our patients on this topic. A few common examples of dental emergencies consist of severe toothache, oral infections, or a tooth which has been knocked (or fallen) out of the mouth.

Many of our patients may have heard of an emergency dental appointment, however they may not know exactly what a dental appointment entails.

What can I expect during an appointment at your emergency dentist in Barrow-in-Furness?

Many of our patients (especially those who may be experiencing a dental phobia or anxiety) may feel more comfortable knowing what to expect from an emergency dental appointment. Dental emergencies can be unsettling, and many patients may deliberate as to whether to call 111, or come and see an emergency dentist like us!  During an emergency dental appointment, your emergency dentist will first address the affected area. A temporary dressing may be placed on the affected dental area, and pain killers (along with other medication) may also be administered. If the dental area requires further attention, our clinic may book further appointments for you.

What should I do if I feel nervous about visiting your emergency dentist in Barrow-in-Furness?

Many individuals may feel nervous when visiting their local dentist, which may lead to them avoiding an emergency dental appointment, even if they need it. Dental phobias may have developed due to a negative childhood experience, which can unfortunately be carried into adulthood. If you are a patient who requires an emergency dental appointment (and feel nervous) you need not fear! At our clinic in Barrow-in-Furness we aim to create a relaxed and welcoming dental environment. Our highly qualified dental health care professionals can also ensure our patients feel at ease when visiting our clinic.

Do I have to be registered with your clinic to receive an emergency dental appointment?

No! Many dental clinics may require patients to be registered with them to see an emergency dentist, however we strive to be different. We always welcome new patients to our clinic, whenever we have appointments available. Many patients may not be registered with us, as we accept brand new patients for emergency dental appointments. Despite our registered patients always taking priority, we aim to see as many new patients as we can (if we are unable to do this, we may suggest other local clinics that we trust).

How much do your emergency dental appointments cost?

Many of our patients may expect emergency dental appointments to be far more expensive than a regular dental check-up, however this is not necessarily the case. If you are a member of our ‘DenPlan’ scheme, you won’t have to pay a penny for an emergency dental appointment. If you are not a member, the cost of an emergency appointment will be given to you as standard, plus any treatment that is received during the appointment.
