Haloween Dental Care Tips

By | News | No Comments

Halloweens round the corner ?

We know that at this time of year children shall consume more sweets than usual. To help prevent tooth decay here are some important tips to remember :

-Encourage your children to eat sweets at the end of a meal. It is the frequency of sugary foods which are bad for the teeth rather than the volume.

-Pause before brushing! Hurrying to the bathroom to brush after eating sweets may seem like a good idea, its better to wait. Brushing after acidic foods can actually cause damage to the teeth! We advise to wait at least 30 minutes.

-Drink more water! This helps wash away the sugar, reducing contact with the enamel.

Keep your teeth booooooooo-tiful ?

This patient attended our practice wanting to improve the appearance of her smile.
Our Dentist Jasmin, prescribed an Opalesence at home whitening kit, which the patient used for 4 weeks to improve the shade of her teeth.
Once happy with the shade, Jasmin then used a white composite filling material to improve the shape of the upper front teeth.
This patient was very pleased with her results and quoted ‘After an awful experience at my previous dentist I could not be happier with the service I’ve received so far at Teckkam, in particular from Jasmin and Emma. As a very nervous patient they have made me feel completely at ease and finally made visiting the dentist an enjoyable experience for me. All the staff are fantastic and I would highly recommend Teckkam to anyone looking for a friendly and professional service.’

Gum Disease

By | News | No Comments

Gum disease is a very common condition where the gums become swollen, sore or infected.

Most adults in the UK have gum disease to some degree and most people experience it at least once. It’s much less common in children.

If you have gum disease, your gums may bleed when you brush your teeth and you may have bad breath. This early stage of gum disease is known as gingivitis.

If gingivitis isn’t treated, a condition called periodontitis can develop. This affects the tissues that hold the teeth in place.

If periodontitis isn’t treated, the bone in your jaw may be damaged and small spaces can open up between the gum and teeth. Your teeth can become loose and may eventually need to be removed.

Regular dental check ups and hygiene visits can help to prevent gum disease.

Please contact us to book your routine dental appointment on 01229 820682 or message us via Facebook.
